user referral system
as it suggests, we get a unique url with a query parameter to help refer new ppl
e.g. http://friendrewind.com?invite=15400
this could also tie into other stuff, such as a points system or stats page
maybe top referrer wins each month wins something, idk but i like the idea all the same
weekly/monthly forum (gimmicky) contests
i remember on an older forum, a regular weekend photoshop contest
no actual prizes were won, it was just for funsies tbh
but people knowing something will always be there on a recurring basis
might provide further incentive re: forum participation
