is violence necessary for a revolution

Back to General Discussion

i saw a yt vid on this and i haven't watched it yet but i wanna know what ppl think. yes or no and why!!

I think it shoulf but idk i think it depdns on the situtation or country because like 90 percent of teh time countrys dont listen when we need stuff to live a better life theyre always in it for the money and if thye wont do something withe revies and words then we mise well have to physical force right? also im ssry if this dont make snes i was outsidee👀

@Madelynne 🪽 nah this makes sense and i totallly get u bc i WANNA say no but at the same time, once you've entered the revolution stage the leader's most likely already been corrupted. like once u have that much power and it clouds you, words aren't gonna wake anything up. asking is already out of the question; u gotta start taking. i do however have hope and think it should be a last resort type of thing but idk, i haven't experienced extreme corruption to really tell

As a Haitian women, I gotta say yes. Its either violence or people withhold their money.

yes, people who say violence is never the answer are more than likely always wrong. corruption and injustice cannot be defeated with peace

@valkdonut exactly. i hate to say it but i think violence is usually the factor that wakes people up and does the most for revolutions. also, corruption is violent in itself. no kumbaya shit is gonna counter that

The user beneath me has been detected giving their own reply Kudos!!!

the situation won't change until we take physical action sadly words alone aren't enough :p

personally, i think of violence as a last resort. when people are put in a position where they are out of things to do and out of things to think, they give in to their nature. but my morals tells me that i am just as bad as the oppressor if i drag innocent people into this, because somehow innocent people gets violated the most as a result of violence. i would prefer it if we do not get to that point, but i understand some sacrifices have to be made. refusing violence under any circumstances afterall, could be a form of oppression

as much as probably a lot of us would like to say no, people in power wont start to listen until something becomes an inconvenience for them. i say inconvenience because i doubt those in power care otherwise until it starts to affect their pockets or their visual of a perfect place. there could be other ways, like maybe boycotting and whatnot, but its too easy for people to become lenient on or not be able to do if that place has become a source for basic resources. thats where i think maybe the argument of boycotting being a privilege can come in? where the system often makes some people reliant on it. so violence is a faster and more effective way to make your voice heard. if we wont do it, they will. theres been countless peaceful protests where instead, those in power incite violence and often frame it as our fault.

It was you who led the world to its destruction.
But you cannot accept it.
You think you are above consequences.

If it gets to a point where peaceful protests don’t work, then yes. I think it should be a last resort.

yes. repeated consistent drastic action by a large portion of people is needed in order to get attention, most people have their heads in the clouds and dont really care, especially those that have power

This just popped up on my YouTube algo after viewing this forum  🧐

@Kayla⟡ LMAO yes this was the exact vidoe

Without violence would anybody listen?

violence is a valid wake up call and can be necessary because it involves going against what most people find moral. though i do believe humans are born pure/good and i hate violence, sometimes it seems to be the only answer, especially in a system so hell-bent on shunning any opposition.
