On September 11, 1973, the United States led a coup in Chile which aimed to overthrow the democratically elected socialist government and replace it with a fascist dictatorship. Before the presidential palace was overrun by the CIA and the fascists whom they fought along side, president Salvador Allende made a final message to his people over the radio.

"Workers of my country, I have faith in Chile and its destiny. Long live Chile! Long live the people! Long live the workers!"

He ended his own life shortly after, rather than allowing the American terrorists and the military fascists the satisfaction of capturing and torturing him.

“Chilean Armed Forces led by General August Pinochet began their coup against democratically elected Socialist President Salvador Allende. The coup, which was supported politically and materially by the U.S. government. began one of the bloodiest periods in the country’s history.”
