Aching nostalgia

Childlike minds, an innocent lens behind an aged consciousness.

Yearning for childhood, a tale as old as time, a life once so sweet, now a life lived in complete defeat.

Remember laying in the sun, the light that felt so warm against your fresh skin, with curious young eyes and a childish sweet grin.

Reminiscing is a painful sort of comfort, a comfort from the life you once much anticipated,

how much longer will the sting last? How many more years of yearning will go past?

Wasn't it lovely? Wasn't it nice? Without a worry, or without care? How did it feel to play, to chase, to explore?

The overwhelming desire to learn, the unfathomable need to grow up and know what its like to be be more.

The taste of fresh juice that makes your small stomach warm, smiles that were accompanied by the soft laugher of your friends.

Friends that tend to move on, friends that become a foggy silhouette that exist now only in your fading collection of dead ends.

A frozen and fuzzy memory, the blurry scene that can't seem to be forgotten just yet.

When you begin to ache, when you yearn for such melodic memories, reach for a crayon, perhaps a box of juice or a stuffed toy.

Visit the now empty playground, the place that once brung so much joy.

Let your mind feel free and innocent once more, and be reminded of that once lovely and easy life.

Remember the peace, remember the stressless time.

Remember that life that has now long since passed you by.
