Fear leads us to strange places, cramped spaces
Nay, tis not fear that rallies us all;
I am the silky thread that tethers you so
A mediocre excuse for a set of manacles
For that silk is my cocoon and my prison
and it covers me so, this mesh of ribbons and strands of thread
Sticky and brittle, wrapped and sheathed
A suffocating, sickly-sweet smell shuffles by
For it's my failures, regrets, and flaws
Stuck to this precoffin; Clinging, heavy, snagged
Weighing me down, anchored by memories
Like a leaf during autumn--down I must go
To shatter these chains, I long to be unrestrained
I scour and scavenge this land for my one true key
I wail as I lie unperceived and enchained
A mediocrity in the making, that's me
