Anatomy of Nothing (Poem)

I am just heavy, hollow flesh,

A brittle cage of pulse and bone,

Tethered to a fading breath,

Left unraveling alone.

The static hums behind my eyes,

As quiet consumes the room,

Every word I tried to speak

Turns to ash inside the gloom.

Strip the skin and scrape the name,

Drain the color from the vein,

There is no ghost behind this grief,

No sharp design inside the pain.

Just an outline going cold,

A shadow bleeding out of sight,

Until the body comes undone,

And folds into the quiet night.

I am not shattered, not destroyed,

Just thinning till I disappear,

A useless weight of mortal dirt

That never should have lingered here.
