I wanna dress alt but I don't know how to create a good looking outfit. I'm learning how to layer certain parts in outfits but what are the essentials needed for alternative fashion? All I have is a white belt with silver studs, and a few pieces of jewellery that help.
(currently listening to Perfect Nothing on loop lol)

I don't know much about Alt Fashion but what works for me is to follow people on instagram that dress up in the way I like and break down their outfits. Pinterest works too, obviously! Most of the time it's the little things that make the outfit, like accessories, shoes, hairstyle, e.t.c
Another thing I do is reverse image search the pieces of the outfits on google, so I can find the exact one or something somewhat similar.
Buying second hand might also be a good fit for you!
