Being a loser isnt cool nor hot.

Recently this year I have seen the rise of incels and femcels in mainstream culture. Well, it’s really just people dumbing down severe mental health crises into a quirky aesthetic. Or worse, weirdly sexualizing it. No Kyle saying, "I can fix her" or making being a loser your entire personality isn’t cool. You’re just trying to get clout and attention off of someone else's downward spiral.

Though, actually looking at the systemic rot behind this digital alienation is hard. It takes actual psychological understanding, critical thinking and actual human emotion! Instead, the internet just turns profound, agonizing human loneliness into a costume or a trend. It’s not an aesthetic, it’s a severe lack of real-world coping mechanisms, but people frame it as this edgy, desirable trait just to fit into a predictable online archetype.

And the fetishization of it is just bizarre. People online are genuinely obsessed with the idea of a "mentally ill loner" partner, treating clinical depression and anti-social behavior like it’s some kinky fictional trope. They frame these highly toxic, codependent dynamics as romantic because they love the idea of "saving" someone, completely missing the reality that these internet rabbit holes are destroying actual lives.

Ultimately, this happens because the internet can’t seem to handle complex emotions, and teens seem to love being edgy and attention seeking. But the second someone is actually going through something, people just seem to shit on them or just ignore them completely. Since it’s too complex for their little internet brains to handle.
