Belly of The Beast

April 4, 2011

Hey, guys.

So, Finn and Jake are awoken early one morning by a disgruntled, firework-spewing Monster whose rampage is shaking their Tree Fort. After discussing the possibility that they are both still asleep, they set off after the monster, determined to fully enjoy the dream they believe they are sharing before they wake up. Only after the monster kicks Jake far into the distance do the two come to the realization that this is not a dream and begin attacking him. Hearing cries for help coming from the monster's stomach, and resolving that they must get inside to help whoever they're coming from, Finn and Jake grab onto a tree which is then eaten by the monster. Once inside, the two come upon the source of the cries: a bear is asking for help not to escape, but to hang streamers for an impending party.

The culprit leads the two friends to a massive rave with flashing lights, fireworks, techno, and bears en masse. The bears have a striking resemblance to Care Bears, with pictures of different objects on their chests. Fearing that the bears will end up getting digested and turned into "the stuff," Finn and Jake decide they must get the bears to leave. After unsuccessfully trying to inform a few party goers that they are dancing inside the stomach of a monster, Finn and Jake are approached by a young bear named Cubby. Cubby has likewise been trying to make the other bears realize the gravity of their situation, but has been ignored because he is a child. He then tells Finn and Jake to talk to Party Pat, the chief of the bears, and that if they can convince him to leave the others will follow.

After meeting Pat's requirement of partying with him for a few hours, Finn breaks the news to him: if he and his colony do not leave, they will die. An unconcerned Pat informs the other bears of the news that they are in fact in a monster's stomach, and is met with great applause; the bears love it.

While enjoying the view from the monster's open mouth, Finn unwittingly makes a comment about how the only way the monster could kill the bears for sure would be for him to swallow "some deadly volcano lava." Overhearing this, the monster makes way for the nearest volcano, while Finn and Jake race to get the bears out as fast as possible. After killing the bears' collective party drive with a somber ballad about "stuff," the two manage to rally the now attentive beasts just as the lava arrives and make their hasty escape the only way they can: through the monster's butt.

The scene skips to Finn treating the bears' burn wounds and informing Party Pat that his clan is now free to party outside. This latter offer is met with discontent from the bears, and Pat responds that, in order to survive, his people need a "phat party club to grind in," and that "that monster's gut was totally excellent." Setting a deal with the monster that they will replace their fireworks with "gentle laser pointers," Party Pat and the bears are let back into the now content monster's stomach to party once more.

But we don't stop here, because While Hawkeye is going to shot the apple, the lights went out by the Electromagnetic Pulse while the Black Widow shows up on the Avengers' doorstep. She asks for help because AIM have succeed in making a cosmic cube - a device capable of altering reality to anyone's desires - and it needs to be destroyed before either side can use it. HYDRA and AIM both want the cube, so the Avengers have to fight both of them as war ensues across all over New York.

Agent Maria Hill, now serving as acting director of SHIELD since Nick Fury has gone hiding with Mockingbird for the Skrull conspiracy, attempts to detain the Avengers during the chaos. In the end, Captain America grabs the cube before Baron von Strucker, but the reality-warping device apparently changes nothing, much to Strucker's dismay.

Black Widow and Hawkeye kiss in the alley as Widow goes on the run to find Fury. The next morning at the mansion, the Avengers then wonder why the cube did not work, and ask Captain America what he would have done if the cube worked, to which he responds that he wouldn't have changed anything. However, a flashback to 1945 of the World War II's final battle in the Arctic shows that Bucky was surviving the explosion of the missile but he lost his left arm, suggesting that Captain America's contact with the cosmic cube may have prevented Bucky's death.

But we're not done yet, because Mordecai and Rigby are both trimming the hedges and begin complaining about the work and how slow it is going. They notice that a distraught Muscle Man has barely done any work. When he starts crying, Mordecai and Rigby ask if he is in fact crying. Despite denying this, Muscle Man continues to cry but this time in his shower fully naked. After High Five Ghost explains why Muscle Man is crying (his girlfriend, Starla, dumped him), Mordecai and Rigby decide to ask Benson for help but this only makes matters worse as Benson assigns the duo Muscle Man's jobs.

After working for a while, Mordecai and Rigby try to convince Muscle Man to stop crying and get back to work but he refuses to do so. He eventually caves in after Mordecai and Rigby decide to help him find a new lady but this only makes things worse as he ends up having a mental breakdown. As a result, Mordecai, Rigby and High Five Ghost can only resort to one option - getting Muscle Man back together with Starla. The trio meet up with Starla, who is almost an exact copy of Muscle Man, but instead she is a female with a different hairstyle. They fail to convince Starla to get back together with Muscle Man thanks to Mordecai's speech on why she should start dating Muscle Man again. As a result, Starla falls in love with Mordecai and the two start going on dates together.

Mordecai eventually gets sick of dating Starla, so he decides to break up with her and get on with his life. This only angers Starla, who goes on a rampage and tries to kill both Mordecai and Rigby but is stopped by Muscle Man who begins to tell her how much he finds her attractive and that she is just like him, tries to act tough, but is very emotional on the inside. Both Muscle Man and Starla run up to each other as the rage in Starla's eyes fade away. They make out for a bit, to the disgust of Mordecai and Rigby, and then head off into the sunset. After Rigby claims that he had the most disturbing day of his life, Mordecai starts to have regrets for not preferring to continue Muscle Man's jobs, upon seeing all the destruction caused by him trying to break up with Starla.
