#blog 4 // Art Confidence Issues

I struggle with the image of my art so much. I honestly thought I'd grown out of this hatred for any piece I develop, yet I haven't.

I have an upcoming solo art exhibition at a local library and I'm honestly scared to present  myself so rawly to people. (15-20 pieces with a theme of Pop culture.)

I say my art has 'no meaning' because well, it doesn't most times. I've come to realise though, it means a lot to me. The time it takes me to decide to draw it, what colours I'm going to use, you get the idea. Crafting it has meaning to me but the art isn't particularly portraying something explicitly.

I don't know how to improve my self worth connected to my art, I need to overcome it soon though.

On top of the exhibition too, I'm hosting workshops. That alone is already heightening my anxiety and I'm worried I'll stumble over my words or panic infront of people...

It's all so exciting! I was so excited recieving the opportunity for sure. I just can't shake this feeling off me...

Any advice would be appreciated, please be civil and kind.

i personally am unsure of how to overcome this issue as well, but i think it has to do with a way of think about the art itself. is it an issue of not being able to disconnect it from yourself that you cannot enjoy it for what it's worth?

art itself does not have to have any meaning, only what you give it.

I think it's like having trouble disconnecting it with me from a sense of flaw. Like I'm my hardest critic.

I've been given the advice to: Think about what you would want to see.

And it didn't help because I know I wouldn't want to see something flawed. But I only would ever think about it seeing my art. Seeing someone elses I never judge nor criticise...

It's honestly a whole mindfuck for me.
