...still reading Closer You Are. Robert Pollard, as a man, is fascinating. The next Guided by Voices album will probably have songs on it that were written like 30 years ago and will STILL sound timeless. Even though I know his process and "secret" (read: he never stopped writing at all) I still don't know just how he keeps pumping out all these instant classics...
...meanwhile I'm trying to get back into PAYDAY 2. I haven't played in a fat minute but the new engine update has got me interested again. I shit you not, within like 5 minutes of booting up the game (and troubleshooting because apparently the new update broke every mod), I was already brainstorming new builds. Feel like getting into snipers since I kinda burnt myself out with the Dragon's Breath IZHMA/Judge Kingpin combo a couple months ago. Will I have the aim for it? We'll see...
...album I listened to: "American Don" by Don Caballero. It is crazy to think that, 26 years before Toronto's biggest mistake popularized it, Don Cab wrote about getting ICEMAN on your license plate. Very skillful math rock, certainly one of Touch and Go's finer bands (they're up there w/ such classics as Shellac, The Jesus Lizard, Urge Overkill and Naked Raygun imo). Is the music industry ready for a man who HAS lived afro pop? Maybe...
