Hello again! :3
What I'm about to tell you all here is my truthful experience about the character.ai's Discord server up until today, when I decided to leave the server for good. I'm also adding that I'm in ASD, so I don't always get certain dynamics, no matter if they're online or irl.
1. the beginning
Even though I've been using the service since 2023 purely for entertainment purposes, I only joined the server on April or May of 2026. Even though I've been using the service since 2023 purely for entertainment purposes, I only joined the server on April or May of 2026.
I was happy to join... But since I don't use Discord that much, I didn't really know much about its culture and the server's. At first, everything was okay but right on the 1st day, I was placed on a 7d timeout by the AutoMod for speaking about the account I was using (one I use for big servers instead of my personal one, pretty normal). :S
2. the incidents
Okay... I tried asking a mod to remove this bc it was an accident. I went to sleep and the time out was removed the next day. But the mods never said anything and they're usually very unresponsive. T-T
Then people had the tendency to dogpile on you if you had a different opinion... sometimes just about fandoms. ToT
And bc it's so fast paced, it's hard to explain your side + casual text not being able to express the tone you're using.
I remember a dude being also dogpiled on bc of a minimal thing about his favourite fandom and he was dogpiled on while I kept trying to defend him bc he had no one to be on his side and I understood what he was coming from. A mod was pinged on that channel and he was unfairly banned, but not the 10+ people that were bullying him.
I was put on a 24h time out for random reasons. I still don't know why that happened... The mods are weird. :V
I reached for him, talked a bit with him on DM and then helped him get unbanned the next day.
3. people are weird
Gen 1 was usually chaotic and disgusting. Gen 2 was more chill, but I still rolled my eyes at some stuff people sometimes used to write. c.ai discussion was either a bunch of incessant complaints or people being off topic.
Also, a lot of times people don't even chat properly... they don't fully engage, ig. But this is just my pov.
Finding Naruto fans was hard. Especially good quality fans. T-T
I don't want to discuss power scales or flex my age or whatever.
Often, I just want to yap about how Tobirama's paperwork obsession is a dedicated hobby and a method of self torture.
Also, Hashirama loves trees. :D
4. The mods don't do shit
There could be 4 or 5 mods online (fully online, idle or don't disturb), yet I usually just saw 2 more active ones.
Sometimes they responded to pings. Sometimes they didn't. I also had a mod threaten me kinda... as in type in a very condescending way but also in a warning bc I wanted answers from him for my unfair time out and I to unban the dude (mentioned above).
5. Finally left, bye lol
Today, 13 of June of 2026, I finally left that cursed server.
I feel... better actually. :D
Sadly, as much as I liked c.ai, I also can't use it anymore due to age verification, some I won't do for an entertainment/AI company. California laws shouldn't apply outside the US.
The only good part about this whole mess is that I made a nice friend actually. :3
And she likes Naruto, in her own way.

i stopped using c.ai since the update. there's a lot of weird bots there, and I don't judge- but then the people who are bullies ?? they're probably just 24/7 on internet and have nothing better to do with their lifes than bothering other people. people are weird, that's good. and there's people who are weird weird, not so good. glad you're out of there.
Finally a decent comment! 😩
The problem wasn't even c.ai on itself (well, other than the stupid reading mode), but Discord and its culture. The server had half a million member and maybe some more, no wonder everything was rather chaotic. X_X
---> And when I say people are weird... it's not in a good way. :S
I just didn't want to use other words bc I didn't want to be too mean.
And yes. Thank goodness I just... left. lol
People don't deserve to be dogpiled just bc they have different opinions.

half a million member and five mods? sounds a bit off to me. there´s no way you can control that with only a few active, that sucks
well yes i understood what you meant, i just said that bc i personally believe people are weird in a good way. i know what you tried to say and i totally agree with it. and dont worry, you can be mean to people who bully lol, someone has to put them on their place.

I'm not 100% sure bc I didn't spend my whole days on Discord, but I usually just saw 5 to 6 mods active at a time, most doing... nothing. :/
In total, they didn't have more than 10 mods or 12. But still, if only 2 of them actually did act when you pinged them, then it's super crap.
Also yeah. People have their own quirks. ;)

Ai is a really horrible thing so im not suprized that the server is also bad. also please stop using Ai... the planet is literally dying and also it's so bad for ur brain.
AI is merely a tool. The platform wasn't even that bad, it was the community and Discord's own culture. :S
Pls, don't try to lecture me. There are many other bad things around too.
I use AI mainly for assistance and for RP. lol
Nowadays, I mainly host locally, so it's my machine suffering. :V

just cuz there's other bad things around doesn't mean Ai isn't bad... it just means its adding more bad...

I didn't write this blog bc of that. 😭
This blog entry was purely about Discord culture and people online.
I've been in other Discord servers and it was pretty chill. Other AI communities online are also pretty chill, especially open source self hosting AI platforms (usually frontends, but backends too).
