Can I consider myself a femboy?

I got told I'm not feminine enough, but also not masculine. I would LIKE to consider myself a femboy, and I can't really become more feminine because my parents are extremley homophobic, and I'm trying my best. I also was told that it really doesn't matter if you aren't feminine enough, but then I'm being told it does matter, and now I'm a bit confused.
