chasing the 2000s...

sooo...

does anyone else ever get that weird feeling where you miss a time so much that you actually wanna try living it again??

that's kinda where i'm at right now lol.

lately i've been doing everything i can to bring back that 2000s feeling. not just the music or the clothes... i mean the WHOLE vibe.

i miss when getting online actually felt exciting.

you'd get home from school, hear the computer boot up, wait forever for everything to load, log into MSN or AIM, check your MySpace, change your profile song for like the third time that week, mess around with HTML until your profile completely broke, then spend the rest of the night talking to friends or falling into random websites you'd never find again.

the internet felt HUGE back then.

it wasn't just five apps.

every website looked different. everybody's profile had its own personality. there were glitter graphics everywhere, dumb GIFs, countdowns, profile views, quizzes, forums, Flash games, weird little fan pages... and somehow it all just worked lol.

nowadays everything feels... clean.

almost too clean.

back then it felt messy, creative, and alive.

that's honestly what i'm trying to find again.

i've been hunting down old wallpapers, XP themes, classic icons, Winamp skins, music from back then, old browser themes, archived websites... basically anything that makes me feel like i accidentally opened my computer in 2005.

the only problem is...

i forgot WAY more than i thought i did.

i'll randomly remember something and think "OH MY GOD I USED TO USE THAT!!"... and then five minutes later i can't remember what it was called.

it's driving me crazy lol.

that's why i'm asking everyone here on Rewind for a little help.

seriously...

if you remember ANYTHING from back then, tell me.

old websites.

forgotten games.

desktop toys.

browser toolbars.

Flash animations.

MSN display pictures.

AIM icons.

old music players.

custom cursors.

MySpace layouts.

random downloads everybody had.

those weird little internet trends that somehow disappeared overnight.

even if it's something tiny that nobody else would think about... i wanna hear it.

drop screenshots.

tell stories.

recommend music.

show me your old desktop if you still have pictures of it.

send me links to archives.

anything helps.

i'm not really trying to "go back in time."

i know that's impossible.

i just wanna recreate that feeling... when the internet felt like an adventure instead of an algorithm.

when every click led somewhere completely random.

when people made websites because they wanted to, not because they were trying to become influencers.

i honestly miss that.

so if you've got memories, recommendations, or just wanna geek out about the old internet with me... leave a comment.

i'd love to hear about it.

maybe together we can keep a little piece of those years alive.

thanks for reading my random late-night rambling lol.

see ya around. :)

This is exactly why I'm so happy FriendRewind exists. 🖤 It reminds me that the internet used to have personality. Every profile felt different, every website was its own little world, and you never knew what you'd stumble across next.

I don't think I'm chasing the past as much as I'm chasing that feeling, the excitement, the creativity, and the freedom to just be yourself online. Reading this made me remember so many little things I'd completely forgotten about. Thanks for taking me back for a few minutes.

Thank you For really taking the time. Read it  And you're welcome for taking you back for a few minutes I I wish I could go back for a longer than a few minutes but

Anemoia is a good word

honestly... I think that describes how I feel about the early 2000s.

I was born in 2001, so I was there for parts of it, but I was too young to really understand what made that era special. I

I miss a version of the 2000s that lives in my imagination.

Here's to keeping those memories alive. 💙
