college rambles

It's sort of insane that the second you enter your senior year, you have to make so many decisions that will alter the course of the rest of your life. You have to write an essay that encompasses your entire being; it has to be interesting enough to keep someone engaged while also being coherent enough for someone to follow. You have to write enough applications to have a safety net of backup plans on backup plans. It's crazy to think that come next spring I'll know where I'm going to be living and what I'm gonna be doing for the next four years. It's a shot in the dark regardless of where I decide. What are the chances that I find "my people"? What are the chances I'm disappointed by the program, or maybe I decide that I hate it?

I'm a good student; don't get me wrong, I take pride in my academics, and I've done so much research, but actually deciding is so different from reading about a college's statistics. The world keeps changing around me as I grow, and the future is so unknown, and it's insane that we put people through this the second they turn eighteen. I try to hold out hope, but there's only so much preparation that can be done. Anyways, that got a bit doom and gloom. Hope someone out there can relate.
