I’m glad you asked this because I think it’s important to be careful here. Personally, I don’t think this is a good idea. The age gap itself (3 years) might not sound huge when people are older, but 14 and 17 are very different stages of life. A 14-year-old and someone who is almost 18 usually have very different levels of maturity, experiences, independence, and expectations in a relationship. It’s not about saying he is automatically a bad person, because we don’t know him, but the situation creates a big imbalance. Someone who is about to become an adult has a different responsibility and understanding of relationships than someone who is still 14. I would be really careful and not rush into anything romantic with him. If he genuinely respects you, he should understand why this difference matters and not pressure you. You deserve someone who is in a similar stage of life and who makes you feel safe and comfortable.
Also, trust your own doubts. The fact that you stopped and asked if it was okay shows that you already noticed something felt off, and it’s worth listening to that feeling ^.^ |

he's a lot older and typically the reason ppl go for ppl that much younger than them is cuz ppl their age call them out on their bs typically, cuz younger ppl are easier to manipulate and they might not understand what a healthy relationship should look like and typically have lower standards and might not feel as confident confronting someone older than them. also the fact that he would even entertain the idea of dating somone that young is a red flag.

Well, the truth is that I was the one who started liking him; he didn't have any romantic intentions toward me. Still, I do think it’s a bit problematic, so I plan to get to know him little by little—as friends. If anything does happen, it’ll be in the future, when I’m older and know exactly what I’m getting into.
