What I Love About My Roots and the Little Things That Make Me Happy

There are a few things that feel like a part of who I am. They shape the way I see the world, remind me where I come from, and make everyday life a little brighter.

Colombia

I’m Colombian, and I deeply love the culture of my country—its colors, its music, and, above all, its people. Colombia is a beautiful place, and I carry it with me wherever I go.
One of the things that fascinates me most is its geography. I've always loved looking at political maps, learning about regions, borders, and landscapes. Every map feels like another way of appreciating the incredible diversity of the country I call home.

Summer

I'm 100% on Team Summer. Long sunny days, warm weather, and that feeling that everything slows down just enough to enjoy life a little more—it’s my favorite time of the year.
Summer also means some of my favorite things: juicy mangoes, red berries, bright afternoons, and spending as much time as possible under the sun. It's a season that simply makes me happy.

Green

If I had to choose one favorite color, it would always be green.
To me, green represents so many of the things I love most: nature, life, fresh landscapes, and the richness of Colombia's mountains and forests. It's a color that feels calm, vibrant, and full of possibility all at once.

The Little Things

At the end of the day, it's often the simplest things that bring me the most joy: the warmth of summer, the sweetness of fresh fruit, the beauty of maps, and the pride of being Colombian.
They're small pieces of my identity, and together they tell the story of what makes me feel most at home—wherever I am.

Music

What I Love About Music

Music has always been a huge part of my life, and there are a few artists who have stayed with me through the years, shaping the way I listen and feel. Here are the ones closest to my heart.

Björk

Björk is, without a doubt, one of my all-time favorite artists. I've been listening to her for years, and every single one of her albums fascinates me in its own way — she never stops reinventing herself. But if I had to pick one that holds a truly special place for me, it's Debut. I even own it on vinyl, and there's something about hearing those first songs on record that makes them feel even more personal.
On my last birthday, my friend Voyd gave me Vespertine Live on CD, and it's become one of my most treasured gifts. Knowing someone paid attention to what I love enough to find that for me means the world.

David Bowie

David Bowie is another artist who has a permanent spot in my heart. My favorite albums of his are Blackstar and Changes — two very different sides of his genius, but both equally powerful to me. Funny enough, I discovered Bowie when I was very young, thanks to Shrek 2. That's how a lot of great musical discoveries start, isn't it? A random moment that ends up shaping your taste for life.

The Beatles

Of course, no music list of mine would be complete without The Beatles. My favorite Beatle is Paul McCartney, and my favorite album is A Hard Day's Night — I love it so much that I even have a mug with it. It's a small thing, but it makes my morning coffee feel a little more special.

And Many More

Beyond these three, there are plenty of other artists and bands I love, but Björk, David Bowie, and The Beatles are the ones that stand out the most for me — the ones I keep coming back to, album after album, year after year.

Movies

What I Love About Cinema

Cinema has always been one of my favorite ways to experience stories. I love films that stay with me long after the credits roll—movies that feel deeply human, beautifully crafted, and impossible to forget. These four are the ones that have left the biggest mark on me.

Central do Brasil

If I had to choose one film that means the most to me, it would probably be Central do Brasil. There's something incredibly moving about its simplicity, its warmth, and the journey at the heart of the story. Every time I watch it, it reminds me how powerful kindness, hope, and human connection can be.
It's the kind of film that quietly changes you.

Le notti di Cabiria

Few films have touched me as deeply as Le notti di Cabiria. Giulietta Masina gives one of my favorite performances ever, bringing so much tenderness and resilience to Cabiria that it's impossible not to care for her.
Despite everything the character goes through, the film never loses its sense of hope. That's one of the reasons I keep coming back to it.

La estrategia del caracol

As a Colombian, La estrategia del caracol holds a special place in my heart. I love the way it combines humor, social commentary, and unforgettable characters into a story that feels both deeply local and universally relatable.
It's a film that reminds me why Latin American cinema is so unique: full of creativity, resilience, and heart.

Mulholland Drive

Then there's Mulholland Drive—a completely different experience. It's mysterious, dreamlike, and endlessly fascinating. Every time I think about it, I notice something new or come up with a different interpretation.
I love films that don't hand you all the answers, and David Lynch created one that invites you to get lost in it over and over again.

Beyond My Favorites

These four films may be my favorites, but they're only a small part of everything I love about cinema. I enjoy discovering films from different countries, exploring new directors, and revisiting classics that reveal something new every time I watch them.
If you'd like to see everything I watch, rate, and recommend, you can find me on Letterboxd: https://boxd.it/7wqJ5. It's where I keep my own little diary of cinema, one film at a time.

Television

What I Love About Television

Television has a special place in my life. I love series that make me laugh, make me think, or simply become a comfort I can return to whenever I need them. Whether they're animated adventures, heartfelt comedies, or deeply emotional dramas, these are the shows that have stayed with me the most.

Adventure Time

Adventure Time is, without a doubt, my favorite series of all time. On the surface, it looks like a fun and colorful cartoon, but it's so much more than that. It's imaginative, emotional, and surprisingly philosophical, always finding ways to tell meaningful stories through its strange and wonderful world.
It's one of those shows I never get tired of revisiting. Every time I watch it, I discover something new, and it somehow manages to make me laugh and reflect at the same time.

The Office

The Office is my comfort show. I've lost count of how many times I've watched it, and somehow it never stops being funny. The awkward humor, the unforgettable characters, and the small everyday moments are what make it so special to me.
It's the kind of series I can put on no matter what mood I'm in, and it always feels like coming back to familiar friends.

Six Feet Under

Six Feet Under is one of the most beautiful and emotionally honest series I've ever seen. It explores life, love, family, and death with a depth that's both heartbreaking and comforting.
It's a show that stays with you long after it ends, and its finale is one of the most unforgettable I've ever watched.

Sex and the City

I love Sex and the City for its wit, its style, and the friendships at its center. Beyond the fashion and romance, it's a series about growing up, finding yourself, and navigating life alongside the people who matter most.
Each character feels unique, and that's part of what makes the show so enjoyable to revisit.

More Than Just Entertainment

These four series are the ones I hold closest to my heart, but my love for television goes far beyond them. I enjoy stories that can make me laugh one episode and leave me thinking the next, and I love how a great series can become part of your everyday life.
They're more than just shows to me—they're worlds I'll always be happy to return to.

Games

What I Love About Video Games

Video games have always been more than just a hobby to me. I love the way they combine storytelling, music, atmosphere, and gameplay to create experiences that you can truly immerse yourself in. Some games stay with you long after you've finished them, and these are the series I always find myself coming back to.

Resident Evil

Resident Evil is my favorite video game series of all time. I love everything about it: the atmosphere, the survival horror, the puzzles, and the characters that have become iconic over the years.
Whether it's exploring abandoned mansions, escaping infected cities, or uncovering Umbrella's secrets, every game offers something memorable. It's a series I've loved for years, and one that never gets old.

Silent Hill

If Resident Evil is about surviving horror, Silent Hill is about experiencing it.
What I admire most about the series is its psychological approach. The haunting music, unsettling environments, and deeply symbolic stories create an atmosphere unlike anything else. Few games have managed to leave such a lasting emotional impact on me.

Bayonetta

Bayonetta is pure style. From its fast-paced combat to its over-the-top action and unforgettable soundtrack, it's one of the most fun series I've ever played.
I love how confident and charismatic Bayonetta is as a character, and the games never take themselves too seriously while still delivering incredible gameplay. They're the perfect mix of spectacle, humor, and skill.

Why I Keep Playing

Although these are my favorite series, I enjoy all kinds of games. I appreciate titles that tell memorable stories, have unique artistic direction, or simply offer a world that's fun to explore.
For me, video games are another form of art—one that lets you become part of the story instead of just watching it. And that's what makes them so special.
