That's real lmao, I remember when I first got into the emo/scene scene I dedicated so much time to listening to countless bands and albums partially for that reason LMAO.
But one word of advice is just ignore anyone who tries to act better or treat you like less of a fan of these things just because they know more than you! The best parts of this should be how open and welcoming this scene is, especially to newer people to the community! 

But some good bands if you like the more "pop-punk" sound where you get catchy choruses would be Armor for Sleep, specifically their album "What To Do When You Are Dead". If you haven't listened to them before Paramore is great! They have a very wide range of sounds so going through their discography is pretty fun. "The Academy Is..." is a great band too. Some other bands are Hawthorne Heights, The Used and Story Of The Year!

If you wanted to try something a tad bit heavier with some more post-hardcore influences similar to some PTV songs you could try bands like A Skylit Drive, For All Those Sleeping, Of Machines and Sleeping with Sirens!
