Okay so these arent exactly high sci-fi but theyre all really unique in how the use sci-fi elements! The Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells is a series of novellas detailing the adventures of a security android that jailbroke itself and basically just wants to be left alone- but it can’t do that for risk of blowing it’s cover and being reset. REALLY fun, great narration, do not watch the tv series.

2) The Illuminae files, a trilogy of YA/middle grade sci-fi books in an epistolary format following a mysterious outbreak aboard a cruise class spaceship. It plays around a ton with the format of using data files, security cameras, and the inner thoughts of an overbearing AI, and it’s a kinda quick read because of that, but also a fun and wild reading experience, the books kinda vary in actual writing quality however.

3) Vampire Hunter D, a very, very long running series of books that’s a mix of Fantasy, westerns, and Sci-Fi, has a good movie (Bloodlust) that takes some liberties but overall still rules. It deals a lot with darker themes however so be prepared if you want to go into it. About a Half-Blood fairly immortal man named D who hunts vampires, and also has a pact with a demon who talk through his left hand. Robot horses included.

Admittedly i need to get into more scifi lit as well. I may end up stalking these comments to see if anyone has any recs too lol

I don't know any good sci fi books but if you want to read a laughably bad one (in my opinion) then I recommend Winter's Orbit by Everina Maxwell, though I guess it's more of a sci fi gay romance than just a regular sci fi book.

now if you want a good sci fi show/comic book series, FARSCAPE!! oh my god I love Farscape. it's Muppets trapped in space with a Florida Man, it's so funny. and usually free to watch on various platforms. sorry my recs are bad, I hope you find good books!!! :D

Rendezvous with Rama blew my mind when I read it... also goes without saying but the original Dune series. Asimov's foundation if you want something with a distinctly old school feel but nonetheless amazing concepts therein... And if you want more cyberpunk, go for Neuromancer by William Gibson and then proceed to some of his other works
