Older sister here! I have a brother 4 years younger than me, he just turned 12 today and I feel like I'm the worst sister ever. I'm incredibly protective of him, because I was around his age when I first started struggling with my mental health and I simply don't want history to repeat itself. I don't exactly know how to connect with him - I'd like to be there for him and offer advice, but I don't even know how to approach him. We're quite different; he's the sporty, sociable type while I'm more studious and artistic and don't really love being around people like he does. I wish we were closer. This is probably not the advice you were looking for, but I needed to get it out( ´・∀・`) |

as the oldest of five, i can kind of see where your older sister is coming from. i, too, constantly hover over my younger sibling's devices and behaviors because i love them and want to see them be the best version of themselves that they can be. i will admit, it undeniably comes off as judgy. being the eldest sibling comes with its own pros and cons. for the most part, it's sort of like being a third parent -- having to juggle your responsibility to your younger siblings with your desire to be your own person and do your own things. but, even if you can't be the oldest sibling now, i'm sure your motivation for helping children will shine if you ever choose to have a family! |
YEAHHHH!!! thats how i feel too!! me and my sister are just complete opposites. and yeah my sister was very similar to me when she was my age, maybe she kinda sees a part of herself in me? like a part of herself that she used to hate?
i guess that makes sense. but i feel like im pretty easy to approach, im not mean to her and i dont act like defensive or anything, idk why it just seems like she wants nothing to do with me :/ my parents are always saying we need to b closer too
thank u for ur comment i can deffo relate :))
