i believe i don't have enough words to describe just how much my heart melted reading this [and the beautiful comment that qwails wrote]. i'm just so so thankful to have eyes that can read all of it. love is everywhere, isn't it? :]

the way you described love and how each topic conveys it is so lovely [i'm going to use love as an adjective a lot in this comment xD], i could quote the parts that touched me the most, but i would probably end quoting everything. i believe there's something so beautiful in understanding other's perspective about it, and knowing how deeply you love love, it seems so remarkable and inspiring! still, there's this specific part that really resonated with me:

"Because there are people we hope to share it with. Even our suffering often reveals the shape of our attachments. The things that break our hearts are usually the things we valued most. Love leaves fingerprints everywhere. On our aspirations. On our memories. On our identities. On our understanding of ourselves.

For this reason, I cannot see love as merely a feeling. It seems closer to a condition of being. A way of inhabiting the world. A way of recognizing that our lives are inextricably intertwined with the lives of others."

and, answering your question, i believe love exists in every connection we form. i like to see it as this whimsical thing that keeps humanity moving on, despite its adversities. love is this mysterious thing that transcends our souls and can appear in our entire semblance - take for example when you give a genuine compliment to a stranger, have you seen just how beautiful and lovely their faces look? how their eyes start shining? that shy smile that tells you they feel loved? awwww. love, to me, is the purest way to achieve empathy. to really look at another person, to deeply connect with another soul. but it is, too, the purest way to be yourself in my opinion - when you love what you do, when you don't understand why, but that specific thing makes you happy, when you get to watch the movies you love, when you do what you love. it is, even when unnoticed, the key reason why we do everything in our lives. "Why do we create art? Because we love beauty. Why do we protect our friends? Because we love them. Why do we grieve? Because we loved. Why do we dream of the future? Because there are people we hope to share it with".

twin, thank you so much for this post -- i mean every word. i pray that more people get to read it, because everything about it is so touching. love is a beautiful theme, and something that should be more discussed. i guess your best blog is always the next, huh? BAHAHAHAH

for some reason my comment isn't loading :c

I don't even have words for how beautiful this whole post is. Like wow. I feel like my life just changed.

Personally love to me is a tricky feeling. People in this day and age push it away and refuse to embrace it. They mistake desire for love and that is my generations fatal flaw. People focus on feeling like they lack one single definition of love in their lives, so much so, that they don't seem to realize just how much love is around them. Love isn't just one thing. You aren't able to define it because love is an everchanging thing taking on so many forms you could fill a library with definitions and still not scratch the surface of it.

Love is the warmth of a meal. Love is the quiet consideration for others while in public. Love is laughing with others even if you're strangers. Love is giving a bird water in the parking lot on a hot day. Love is sharing clothes. Love is smiling in the mirror and feeling good about yourself. Love is creating music. Love is silently admiring others. Love is the unspoken compliments that go through your head. Love is taping back together a torn book. Love is in names. Love is in memories. Love is in tattoos. Love is in cleaning off bones to cherish. Love is second-hand shoes. Love is in architecture where no detail is spared. Love is taking pictures to save a moment forever. Love is a pencil sharpened down to the eraser, yet you still continue to use it. It is woven into places that you wouldn't normally think about being an act of love, that's how natural it is.

It's a silly idea for people to believe that you can simply stop loving. That's like believing you can run a marathon while holding your breath the whole way. Whether people like it or not, love will persist despite the hurt and discomfort that comes with it. Love hurts. It stabs you in the chest and leaves you bleeding, but you can either bandage it up and care for that wound until it heals, or leave it gaping and let it rot until the maggots eat you alive.

I believe many don't like the concept of love simply because they're uncomfortable with the idea of sitting with it. Of holding such a fragile feeling in their hands, unable to do anything except learn it and accept it as it is. Some people get hurt once and lock their hearts in a cadge so it never happens again, others get hurt so many times that their heart is 90% scar tissue, yet they continue to hold it out openly because their world didn't end when they experienced such heartbreak.

I believe being a strong person is being able to love freely, to not be afraid of the hurt that so many others shy away from, to allow others to pry their ribs open one by one, to observe their chest cavity and learn them so intimately, to not flinch away once fingers graze upon their heart, and to embrace that coldness that's left from where flesh met flesh because it meant something once. To smile and part ways when the time comes because just like love, we are everchanging creatures who have so many different versions of ourselves that you could fill a library with dictionaries on each person you are and still not scratch the surface.

Like the waxing and waning of the moon, we are constantly shifting, and if we only fit together for a brief moment, then so be it. The world has so much more to give, so many people to meet and share this feeling with.

Like when you love a pet, the heartbreak in the end hurts, but those memories with them live on within you. Pain and love go hand in hand. They are twins of the same value. Our fear of getting hurt scares us out of ever taking chances and sharing connections with people.

We are made with love. We are every person we've ever met. We are all artists shaping each other with each interaction, whether that be gently adding a small detail, smoothing over a crack that's existed forever with a small swipe of a thumb, forming an entirely different shape out of the softness in our hearts, or smashing that hard work with clumsy hands just for someone else to come by and help reshape everything into something that isn't quite the same as before, but still just as good.

There is so much more that I could say but this is getting long LOL.

Keep loving even if it hurts, because no matter what, that feeling is the most valuable trait you could have! Love makes the world a nicer place one action at a time (❁´◡`❁)
