I absolutely loved reading this!!!!! Daisies is one of those films that completely blew my mind the first time I watched it. I still remember sitting there thinking, "What on earth am I watching?" but in the best possible way. It's such a beautiful, chaotic, fearless film, and I fell in love with it immediately I really liked your interpretation, especially the way you talked about Marie II and the young lover. I hadn't thought about their relationship from that perspective before, but I agree that he's one of the few people who seems genuinely interested in her rather than what she represents. It makes that emotional distance she keeps even more heartbreaking And the banquet scene... what a masterpiece. It's one of the most unforgettable sequences I've ever seen. It feels funny, rebellious, uncomfortable, liberating, and strangely sad all at once. I don't think I've ever seen another film express defiance in such a visually creative way. I also love how the film refuses to explain itself or fit into a conventional narrative. Every time I think back on it, I notice something new. It's the kind of movie that stays with u for years, and I'm always happy whenever I find someone else who appreciates just how wonderfully insane it is Fantastic review!<33 |
