Omg I feel the same way. I just can't make myself draw again. It's been months and whenever I try again there is no joy or no passion while doing it. I don't know what is going on. But whenever I am very busy at school/work I suddenly feel motivated to doodle random stuff. But at home during my free time I can't make myself do it. I sometimes wonder if it is the exhaustion that is stopping me or if only the thrill of doing something not related to work makes me draw. |
Wait your onto something, maybe it's like the idea of doing it because when I actually finally make time to do it I just have a blank stare. When I was younger I just drew all the time and I didn't care what it was. Now I just think about all of the things I could do and then when I actually go to it seems so pointless. If I'm being honest it feels totally empty. The most I can do in years is draw a flower and call it a day which sounds so silly, I don't know why but it's always a flower.

Have you tried different media?
Maybe a new artistic hobby or something fresh. Maybe that could motivate you to do a hobby without feeling forced to draw.
I think one thing that is stopping me from drawing is my phone. My brain sees my phone and social media as an opportunity. I sometimes wonder if I lock away my phone I could be more motivated to do a hobby or draw.

I was thinking of that, I started coloring in coloring books with crayons just to get myself to do something. I'm also guilty of turning to social media for dopamine because it's too easy.
