ugh yes, this movie is so enriched as a commentary on trauma and violence against women. i will never forgive how the marketing messed up with this movie ugh. to this day, it seems its depth is brushed aside. you have insightful thoughts, and i'm glad it seems people have been more thoughtful about the movie in recent years!! |

Loved this movie and I think you did a great job describing the themes! It makes me think about how Jennifer's fixation on violence ends up destroying her and Needy's friendship. Like how victims, still stuck in their trauma, find themselves unable to relate or connect with old friends they had. Just a thought! Yes! Even people they find safe and want to keep close are affected, because certain survivors have a disrupted sense of what’s healthy, including in relationships.
