Music isn't soulless, you're using drake for an example when he is a huge musician, dig deep and find "niche" musicians/bands. Rap has always cursed or talked about women, The Geto Boys We Can't Be Stopped album literally talks about how women think they need men to be a gentleman for them, calling them bitches and saying they act handicapped with how they want men to open doors or pull up chairs for them and that was 1991. Rap has always had explicit lyrics no matter the year. If you want rap that DOESN'T talk about women like that, listen to Public Enemy, they're political and protest. Gang Starr is another good one that doesn't talk like that, they do exist.

        There are musicians out there who do truly care about what music they're making and do put hard work into it. When The Beatles came out, they were hated for being "heavy" or "inappropriate" for their time, yes they were huge and helped pave the way for a new music era. Music changes over time and the previous bands/current ones help change it. Korn and Limp bizkit got popular, made nu metal and mu metal had a surge of nu metal popularity, so yes this era of music will sound similar, it'd be annoying if it was 1999 and all day i heard the same sounding nu metal bullshit. 

   You might just prefer older music and that's okay, everyone has tastes. I prefer older music but I'm still open to listening to new music, I might not like it when it comes to newer metal, hardcore or rap but I do enjoy newer pop or some shit like Lana Del Ray.

uhh you know what the coolest people do? not shit on other people even if they're 'basic'.. judging peoples styles and music taste only brings more negativity into the world (and besides.. most people just want to wear comfortable clothing in their day-to-day.)

music isnt soulless now ?!? what are 'plain lyrics' to you, and why should everyone care if YOU dont find the sound of their music appealing?? you want kids to love poetry and life but now youre judging them for the music they like and calling it 'overglazing'? just because you dont like their music doesnt make it not 'real art'

kids have ALWAYS been influenced by other people even before the internet. there were magazines and shit, there was tv. of course they want to be cool, thats why theyre following trends in the first place just like the kids of the past!!!

obviously theres discussions to be had about people who really dont seem to have an identity of their own and jump from trend to trend, and i also dont think people should judge others for straying from the norm... but judging them right back isnt really the way to go is it? the past was NOT so much better than the present.
