as somebody who's part irish, i always feel quite appreciated whenever i see characters who share the same heritage as me in fiction like the mcreary brothers in gta 4 who properly represent the irish culture people whilst also being nuanced and good characters in their own right. but saying that, ive always felt quite connected to my nationality since ive spent most of my life in england (believe u me, its not as posh as u would think) and whenever i look back on england and whenever i go back home, i always feel glad to have a sense of cultural identity, something that has also been washed out by the english, such as irish gaelic being forced away by english settlers, so i suppose in short, being irish is pretty damn cool to embrace in a nation that is quite opposite in many ways and i also do think its important to have a sense of identity :D

hate how consuming american media since childhood made me feel like my culture was just a background noise 



yes. I also think people only consuming American media is a problem… Ive been saying a lot of American words lately (candy, pants, chips, etc) and I get so disgusted by it
