It definitely is a "use it or lose it" kind of thing. You have to keep up with using your target language, or you're doomed to forget it. That's exactly what happened to my Japanese after I came back from studying abroad in Japan. I had no reason to keep learning it, so I forgot most of it. Now I am in the process of relearning everything with the intention of studying longterm! |
