Catching up with French

Even though I don't have to study French anymore because I'm done with high school, it feels weird not to be speaking the language, as much as I hated learning it. I wasn't great at it, but I can at least understand the words and speak in a broken accent. I hate thinking that one day I'm going to wake up and I'm not gonna be able to speak French any more because as somebody who's bilingual, I imagine it would feel claustrophobic not being able to communicate other ways and it would be awful to lose my ability to speak Spanish, Italian, or English. So as much as I hate it, I'm going to keep improving my French(Canadian French/Quebecois though, my loyalties do not lie with France). Et cette phrase est pour montrer que mal mon francaise est ce moment. A plus tard

It definitely is a "use it or lose it" kind of thing. You have to keep up with using your target language, or you're doomed to forget it. That's exactly what happened to my Japanese after I came back from studying abroad in Japan. I had no reason to keep learning it, so I forgot most of it. Now I am in the process of relearning everything with the intention of studying longterm!
