Truly! It makes me worry for people because I'm just being nice? Like, have you never felt kindness before? :( And it upsets ME a lot when it happens, because it's like you don't know ME, you know a small sliver of me that you've known for a few days... You should absolutely NOTT feel guilty about complaining because it is a very valid complaint and concern. Being kind, understanding, and sweet doesn't have to come with the cost of losing the ability to stand up for yourself. If those you're communicating with ALSO wish to be helpful and understanding, they should be willing to talk about lines that are overstepped, or walk away for a while if they're angry to avoid saying something rude in the moment. If the methods turn malicious on their end, you don't have to be unkind, but you also don't need to give so much of yourself to maintaining that connection. You don't need to resort to rude words, but you also don't need to hold the same hands that harmed you. You could be cordial without being cold too! When it comes to stuff like this, it's the world that needs to change, more than it's you. Being negative is so exhausting; I don't fully get how so many people would rather go that route than try to be kinder. Sure, there are bad days, and a lot of times the world has problems. People can be sad, people can be angry about many things in the world. It's a problem when you start taking it out on people who have done nothing wrong. It is so sad watching people go out of their way to dim others' light just because. Like, great, we're both miserable... what did that fix? It may be brutally honest because that's their honest view of the world, but that doesn't make it the truth. Also VERY real </3 saying like that don't really fix mindsets, it oftentimes makes it worse. Sure plenty of things can go wrong and will, but what about all the things that can go wrong and DON'T. All the times idk a meteor could have made us the dinosaurs 2.0, but instead we just got light rain and a rainbow after! And with expecting the worst from people, that's why friends are so important to have. People who you know and love to remind you how great people can be. I don't think people are inherently good are bad, I think they are just people. They can make the choice to be either and that's what is so cool about us. There are so many people who make the choice to be the kindest they can be every day. Honestly laughing instead of helping is just so...evil:( The same energy it take to do that could've gone to helping or even just asking if they're okay. The very same people who laugh would go on full-on villain monologues about how messed up everyone else is if the same happened to them, so I don't get it. So, the larger group may not accept you...is their approval worth it? Okay, you're an outcast, you and the other person can be outcasts together. The blocking isn't fully hypocritical, because you are not being malicious and are actively trying to see the best in others while also protecting yourself. Maybe you'll have some close calls and block a few people who weren't a danger, but you still have many friends and others who you treat with kindness, and who do the same. Not letting everyone in is different from shutting everyone out. Friends shouldn't make jokes to harm one another, and if they do, the affected person should be ALLOWED to be upset and let their friends know. If they get mad at that person it shows that they care more about the joke and what they can gain than their friend. When people use the excuse of bullying their freinds of "oh, you know how i joke" the same could be said the other way. Do you not know your friend enough to know what harms them? Do you not care? Even the most sound structures need maintenance from time to time. No person should have to live through a friendship of being constantly berated. I make some jokes here and there with my friends, but I KNOW them enough to know what hurts, and I avoid that. Even if we do go towards the line a bit with each other, we actually show with our words and actions that we all genuinely care about each other, so it isn't an issue. You can't have a friendship of all harmful jokes with no love at all in the relationship; that isn't a friendship, it's mutual disdain. LAW REFERENCE WHOOHOO( literally bawling my eyes out) but truly, I've realized that a lot of people weren't taught proper apologies or consequences growing up. At the end of the day, your actions had a negative consequence. "I'm sorry you're mad" and "I'm sorry for what I said" are COMPLETELY different things. Upside down vanity? Upside down cake? Upside down tea party? Curiouser and curioser... I think the negative route feels good for a while, probably feeling a bit powerful, but it fades so fast and makes you so miserable. Then it just repeats, making your constant negativity the switch that turns off someone else's kindness. The beauty of it all is the freedom we have to be kind and choose it when we can. Plenty of gardens didn't just sprout; they were planted and nurtured every day. The best part of it all is having people to share it with and those people can help you make sure you don't lose yourself in the darker corners when the sun goes down. HOLYY MOLY I WROTE SO MUCH MY BAD VANITY 〒▽〒 HAVE THE BEST DAY STAY SWEET LIKE TEA AND BE KINDD!! LOVE YOU MY GOAT!! <3 |
