I agree with you on everything. Romance culture is DEAD, look at all those dating shows and whatever, theres so many braindead terms, partners just get more and more objectified into their only purpose being good for having a relationship, its soooo horrid. You donr even KNOW these people you call your partners Also, I fear that the incel term "Polyester Relationship" just applies to all of these new relstionships. They only date for what seems like lust, as you said, I feel like id want my partner to be my friend too??? Evsrything is so shallow. Friends to partners is way better than the other way around imo. I agree to some extent. some people read too much cheesy YA. but also keep in mind that traditionally it was important in practical terms to be married. people still hold onto those values. either way it is childish to make an infatuation the defining trait of your person. |

My ex used to always act like this dude when we first became friends we talked alot but when we got together he would always just talk about romance and nothing else he would even get mad at me that i wasnt able to go out or didnt have time keep in mind i told him multiple times i didnt really felt comfortable anymore around him and it was always so awkward because he always used to follow me around even when i was walking home after months when we broke up he was saying shit like "oh you dont touch grass you hate me!" DUDE I WAS LITERALLY DEPRESSED BECAUSE SM1 PASSED AWAY WHY SHOULD I CARE NOW ABOUT YOU?? he even knew this btw but yet he always said i dont love him and guess what after we broke up he came back 2 times to ask if i wanna be his gf again and i rejected him the whole time i just personally think relationships arent my thing he also calls me parasocial for liking a character very much which doesnt bother me at all considering he told me before we broke up that he already got rejected in the past 10 times which he desserves he always whines about everything and yes sadly i have to see him in school everyday |

idefk... What are you supposed to do AFTER you're dating someone who you barely know? just non-stop maintenance of something that's bound to crash and burn. After you "pull" them than what... Always just "what's the point". |
Yeahh the marriage part is relevant too!
But I also feel like that's the reason why there's so many divorces, people often marry another just because they feel they HAVE TO instead because they want to, especially religious marriage, for example there's a lot of christians who marry in like months of knowing eachother simply because they want to yk
and in the end they genuinely don't care about eachother, even worse when they have kids, because very often they cling to the relationship for the sake of the child, even tho they may HATE eachother! It's pretty sad but I guess that's just culture, we we're teached young that being married is like the "Final Goal" of life.
