OOOO I love Jeff rewrites!

I had an idea I told a friend about a while ago that'd hold the POV of a glorified Buzzfeed journalist piecing together the story after the fact from interviewing the townspeople who kinda have an odd vacancy about them, like the adults from IT. The only person of true note being Liu who at this point cannot fully speak after surviving Jeff's attempted murder.

No one's story would match together at all, nor would any of the stories he got together match the legend people know. The more the journalist moves down the story the more aggressive the responses from what be believes is Jeff become. Blade scrapes on his motel room window, guy in a hoodie stalking him in a convenience store, rapid footsteps running from his car at night, the works.

Basically the twist comes around when he realizes Liu's unsorted notes and truncated responses match nearly 1:1 with the legend, proving Jeffery Woods was a real person at least. But despite this, the journo would realize he'd never actually seen or brushed shoulders with Jeff, "Jeff the Killer" essentially being a throwaway apathetic go-to for the town's failures since they never really learned how to take care of their own kids since Jeff. Essentially each story that didn't match was actually a different "Jeff" or someone that "Jeff took" in one way or another.

The townspeople are just like that too, no spell or haunt. The horror's less in Jeff and more in the fact that this is how some real life communities (refused to) deal with trauma or accountability.
