Neither of these are real families, this is a lore dump so things can be easily found. It can honestly be treated like some student's in-world research notes.
These families are found in the state of Ohio, often concentrated around Cleaveland (essentially Cleveland) as that is where the Vale headquarters is, but their effects can be seen in the national news.
Vales
Ideals: Left-leaning and generally progressive, though their means to get there may be unsavory. They defend people first and foremost.

Security Team Leader: Judith Caroline Bringham
Team is nicknamed BSF (Bringham Security Force) and ORNJ (Organized Revolutionary Network of Judith)
Members Include: Dr. Snavely (real name Theodore Lockett), William Will Williamson, Caroll Twilley, Jessica Harolds (formerly known as Delilah Chism), Mary "Sleepy" Snyder, Shaun "Red-Eye" Bloodworth, Jack Biensthok (now dead)
~1940s-1999 (they existed before this, but this is all I write for)
Leaders: Mickey Vale and John Green (later changed his name to Med Christensen and then Med Wright)
Security Team Leader: Grear River Eden
Team is nicknamed GREN (Grear River Eden Network)

Locketts
2010-2023
Current Leader: Christopher Lockett Sr.
Ideals: Extremely right-leaning and conservative. Whatever you're thinking, make it 10x more. They defend businesses second, and terrorize minorities first. They do not believe they are evil. They believe they are upholding traditional values. This is very important.
"Mercenary" Team Leader: Robert Fiesor
Team is nicknamed YOLO
Members Include: Sawyer "Boozehound" Riggins, Dr. Walter/Mandy Rowley, Raine Twilley, Cora "Codename" P. Ulysses
Conflicts
Though the Vales started as a mob, they have since become more like a political party. The Locketts are more like a political party as well. The Vale mob still tends to get its money through crime and local businesses, at least until the Locketts fall, because the Locketts have collected money from all of the larger businesses and richer men. They butt heads because they directly oppose each other.
The Locketts are generally not opposed to using violence to uphold their views, so most fighting conflicts are initiated by them. When the Vales initiate, they are usually doing so in retaliation.
A Few Important Conflicts in Timeline Order:
- The shooting of the third in command of the Vale mob
- Tim Wright's kidnapping, and the subsequent "impromptu surgeries" done by Med and John-John in response.
- Pitch Fiesor's personal security team joins YOLO to attempt to overcome the Vales in one fell swoop. Prudish Lastname's personal security team joins BSF to fight back against YOLO. The resulting conflict burned down several buildings on Millionaire's Row, causing a lot of the Locketts' funding to disappear.
- The Locketts versus the IRS (they lose and are disbanded)
