I keep trying and giving up on learning Kurdish. My family are Kurds but they never spoke the language to me the same way that they did Turkish, so I never ended up picking up on it. Even when I was a toddler, my mother would only say small words, ones that relate to certain facial features, never anything conversational.
The other day, my cousin's grandma told me a whole poem and I couldn't understand her, for I hadn't grown up with my parents speaking to me in Kurmanci. It was lowkey depressing. I can't understand what is meant to be my language.
Now, I am back to trying to learn it and I know I probably won't do much over the summer since I'll be in Turkiye and unable to have as much access to the wi-fi access, thus unable to learn.
Lowkey thinking of potentially getting a penpal. That could help with conversation, especially since I probs won't practice with my parents.
Anyway, I'll probs give updates on any lil bit of what I learn!!
Love y'all xx
