And how could I not adore you? I have condemned myself to loving you. As an artist, I am now a prisoner, captive within the cage my own hands raised.

For you are present in all my art; I know you are there—I am certain of it. I notice it, for whenever I paint, each stroke suddenly turns gentle, as though the paper were your skin and my fingers feared leaving it wounded.

I notice it when my sorrowful poem dries its tears and, if only for a fleeting moment, forgets its grief to whisper your name; when my verses cease to wander through my thousand fantasies and begin instead to wear yours—those that dance between agony and hope, between love and duty.

Believe me, I notice it; even more when my philosophy shifts and walks beside the one I met long ago, the one who made my own convictions tremble, the world I had once believed almost perfect.

And how could I not adore you? I love you, and I shall love you so deeply that I can no longer tell where my art comes to an end... and where you begin.

¿Y cómo no he de adorarte? Si me he condenado a amarte. Como artista, ahora soy preso, cautivo de la jaula nacida de mis manos.

Pues en todo mi arte estás presente; sé que estás ahí, estoy seguro. Lo noto, pues cuando pinto, el trazo de repente se vuelve suave, como si el papel representara tu carne y mis dedos temieran herirte.

Lo noto cuando mi triste poema seca sus lágrimas y olvida por un instante su desgracia para suspirar tu nombre; cuando mis letras dejan de hablar de mis miles de fantasías y comienzan a vestir las tuyas, esas que danzan entre la agonía y la esperanza, entre el amar y el deber.

Créeme, lo noto; aún más cuando mi filosofía cambia y se vuelve compañera de aquella que conocí un día, de esa que hizo temblar mi propio criterio, mi mundo que alguna vez consideré casi perfecto.

¿Y cómo no he de adorarte? Si te amo y he de amarte tanto, que ahora no estoy seguro de dónde termina mi arte y dónde comienzas tú.
