Everyone knows how modern dating has become nothing but an add button or a swipe on your phone, but, I have to complain about it before I explode.
In my eighteen years of life, I have had not one boyfriend. I don't find that embarrassing or pathetic, like most people would/do. However, it's not for a lack of trying. In my small town of B.F.E Appalachia, the "men" (Quotations because they're overgrown fourteen year olds, at this point) are all the same. Ice cream hair or mullets, skinny as twigs (which is FINE!) and LOVE to hate on bigger girls like myself. Their vehicles are loud, ugly, and should be considered a public safety hazard. Their only hobbies are sitting in a Walmart parking lot or driving 90MPH down main (though, I will admit, I can't blame them for the parking lot. There's nothing to do here) or shooting things. Oh, and the occasional party in the woods behind someone's house. Obviously.
My brother is apart of that group, so I have seen how they pick their girlfriends first hand.
Snapchat. The devil in this dating hell.
I have watched my brother comb through the scrolls of Quick-Add public profiles and gawk at the copy-and-paste blondes with their asses at the forefront of every photo. I am not putting them down because it's their body, they can flaunt it whenever and how ever they want and I do support that. What I don't support, is the look of disgust on my brother's face when he sees that a girl above a size 2 has added him. His friends, too.
I will admit, most of my brother's friends are hot. Or maybe my loneliness is killing me and I have no type because of it. But I digress. They're the same. They use the girls they meet in person for a quick fuck in the bed of a truck at a rodeo. Snapchat is where it's 'serious', I suppose.
But I don't want that. I don't want to tell my future kids that I met their dad on Snapchat and he's the only one who didn't unadd me after the 'wyll' stage. I don't want my love life to start with a 'talking stage'. Courting is dead, I know that. But fuck, y'all.
This is bullshit. Everything about dating is bullshit.
And yes, I now realize that this probably makes no sense and seems very incohesive, but I wrote this at four AM and it is now 7PM. I have not slept 2AM. I apologize.

yeah dating shouldnt be treated as a toy, in my highschool everyone popular was dating a lot of people, i never saw anyone with the same girl twice. Imo dating isnt something you force to happen, it just comes off naturally, "if you force it its probably crap" or whatever family guy said
