Discussing the marauders (late night thoughts)

DISCLAIMER: I DON'T SUPPORT J.K. ROWLING, I HATE HER, I HATE HER, I HATE HER, I HATE HER, I HATE HER, I HATE HER, I HATE HER!!!!!!! I hope she gets visited by Christmas past, present and future this year and changes her Scrooge ways. Or get that bloody bat of a woman some non-moldy walls, I think they're messing with her head... And take away her Twitter, Jesus fuck.

Quick Yap about the marauders fandom while I can't fall asleep lmao. I just wanna state first that I would consider myself in the fandom, not that I understand it one bit, it actually confuses me most of the time but I like the people in the fandom and, as a writer, I love the freedom in storytelling. So this isn't slamming any marauders fans, I think they're all very nice people who just want to find representation (because most of them are queer, neurodivergent teenagers, be so fr).

I've been recently seeing videos discussing the marauders and J.K. Rowling. The first video was (I think) a trans man talking about how they're completely removing all their marauders related videos from their account and that they regret joining it in the first place. It was- a bit intense,

but what was the reason?

Because not everyone will have the same morals as you, and others might still become influenced in buying things that'll support J.K. Rowling, no matter how ethical you might be, someone will still support J.K. Rowling. And I agree with them- to a point. I hate Rowling. Absolutely hate the woman. But this person who made the video, obviously enjoyed being in the fandom if they made videos about the marauders for so long, and their reason for leaving is because other people will become influenced in buying Harry Potter related items. And- I can't help but think that's unfair, especially since this person is an adult, and most of the fandom is teenagers, and as a teenager with autism, it's hard to simply change your mind and get used to something else when you're already attached to something. And I just don't think it's fair that something you obviously have an interest to, is ruined by people who are just being idiots. And I don't think you're gonna have the same amount of impact by deleting everything that showed your attachment to the fandom and trying to avoid influencing people, as staying with something you enjoy and educating people on why you should thrift if you want merch, what petitions you could sign to support trans lives, how you can support trans people and kick J.K. Rowling to the damn curb.

I just don't think it's fair. And this video had so many likes, I feel silly for making this blog post but I just wanted to talk about it because it has been ringing in my head for a while. I feel guilty for liking the "wizarding world", but, again, as someone with autism who can't handle change (holy reference), I find comfort in it and I love the world that I also grew up with, and I like marauders more because it tries to distance itself from J.K. Rowling, so all these videos do is make me feel guilty when I know damn well how badly I avoid giving J.K. Rowling any support (I have DVDs for a reason, also because I hate capitalism). And I don't think these kinds of videos realize what they're doing, because it feels like they're getting mad at the wrong people, when we should be mad at the transphobic elephant in the room.

I advocate for trans people and I defend them with my life, I'm writing a book right now and when I publish it, the money I make from it will go to paying for my best friend's top surgery. That's the kind of work you need to influence, not "stop being a part of something you obviously care about because other people ruin it for you". The worst part is, is that I still understand where they're coming from, but can they see where I'm coming from?

The other video was just talking about how marauders fandom is just like a bunch of bullshit and everything is made up because there canonically isn't a lot of information about them. And they're right. But that's the fun part, and again, as a writer, I love using my imagination in my small brain. And honestly, I don't think a neurodivergent marauders fan is uncommon, so it just rubs me the wrong way with how harsh people can be towards the marauders fandom when it's just people trying to find an outlet through a world they enjoy but can't find love in because of the moldy-Rowling.

I just wanted to post this because it's 3 in the morning, I can't sleep and I needed to let these thoughts out somewhere. I hope I don't sound like an absolute arse right now, and I'm sorry I keep mentioning my autism, but finding a community is genuinely such a special feeling.

Xoxo bye!!
