What are dreams? And why do we have them? Some people believe we have them to keep our minds busy as our bodies rest. Call them "Little Movies" if you will. Every one of us dreams at night. Some of us dream a lot, some of us dream a little. Dreams can vary far and wide.
Some people view dreams as an escape from the real world. Some people even believe that dreams are just a peak through the curtain at an alternate reality life. I am one of those people. I can dream very vividly, though I am unsure as to why.
I had a dream that my sister Tatum and I met 6 amazing people, two of which remind me of people I once knew in real life. It starts like this:
My sister and I are driving home one morning to find boxes of food in neat stacks from our local food pantry. We didn't know what to believe. Could a burglar have robbed a food pantry and left the evidence with us to maybe frame us? What could we have done? We looked all over for a note but to our surprise, there wasn't any.
We went inside and found 6 of our online friends inside our very house. 6 people we had only known online. They knew we were struggling to afford food, so they flew in from their countries, like Japan, and India, to help us.
Oh, they really were the sweetest and nicest people. They helped us bring the food inside and these two other guys saw us struggling with these heavy boxes and offered to help. We invited them in as I had decided to make a pitcher of lemonade.
We all got to know each other, and we found new friends that day.
It was time for the two men to leave. I think they were homeless, but they called it "letting the wind take them where they may be needed", and it got me thinking. These two men meet new people all the time and because they choose to. Then it made me a bit sad to see them go and because it was all temporary, getting to know new people.
Dreams are funny like that. You get to see free movies every night, and you get to make up the cast. I hope those two men are doing okay, wherever they are.
