I don't really understand why I am drawn to these particular sites, I guess I tend to chase a timeline where people had friends who were into visual kei and whatnot- and doing cool shenanigans on sites like these. But those times have long been gone, its been 20 years. And I don't want to come across as that one weird geezer always chasing the past (I ain't no Uncle Rico XD). However, I'm actually not that old. People around my age were doing this exact same stuff, so in a sense I've been following a societal(?)/biological(?) internet behavior of creating stuff and trying to find community connection. I'm just really late to the party! ![]()
Sometimes I wonder if I was meant to be born in another timelin- (ah yes, the classic line that most people think). Whenever I feel that sort of thought coming on, I actually "COMBAT" it pretty quickly. I know there is a purpose for me to be here and have all these interests. I'm actually quite proud of who I am and what I like doing, I'd much rather spend time using my brain, creativity, and social skills than mindlessly look at JUNK for hours. Though I'm not saying I'm a "better person" for being this way, I just am proud of pushing myself to do what I like doing and using my brain.
I'm not very different for liking these sort of things either, I'm just like the girl posting stuff on her instagram or whatever- just in a different font. I like visual kei, I collect merch and CDs, just like the next guy who has a favorite band. Nowadays people run fanpages and make cool posts, I do that too, just elsewhere. This societal(?)/biological(?) internet behavior is very common. Its not something that only ever existed in the early internet days, its evolved some and continues to be prevalent. I think one of the most differentiating and evolutionary factors is the platforms that this behavior is influenced by. Back then, everything was so new and people were creating all sorts of things and wanting to take part in their respected communities. People sought out information- had to search and make connections and be in forums and stuff. People still take part in communities, but now its heavily influenced by an algorithm force feeding all sorts of information every less than 15 seconds. Its overwhelming! To me, these sites are just much better and fulfilling. I'd rather write, create webpages, message the forum, etc. than have a few hours go by and completely forget everything I just watched. I hope to meet others who are similar... but until then, I'll happily write things nobody will read ![]()
