i hate people with INSANELY bad grammar / ramble #32

Maybe this is me being a nerd and absolutely i am such a nerd. ALSO DONT POLICE MY GRAMMAR ON MY BLOG.. this is not formal… 😭 it’s also 3am (excuses from me… whatever….)

anyways im a huge reading and writing nerd and it absolutely GRINDS MY GEARS so insanely bad when someone genuinely comes across illiterate. Now yes nuance i know some people have disadvantages, but I’m talking about people who have like zero excuse to be DUMB 😭😭😭 you literally have the privilege to get an education, english is your first language, and you are neurotypical…..

i also hate being able to tell if someone doesn’t actively read. I’m not trying to be all snotty and up my own ass in this blog because i read occasionally and inconsistently, but seriously i’m not sure how people who don’t read know how apparent it is that they don’t. I don’t even need to explain………………

sorry i sound snotty and nerdy. I am nerdy… less snotty, i’m really nice. My grammar is not astonishingly beautiful, but seriously I am not good enough to be better than most people I run into..

I honestly think I have more of a problem with grammatical mistakes in Spanish than in English. If someone writes in broken English, they could be a kid from Brazil who learned the language by watching YouTube videos, so I get it. I sympathise with my fellow non-native English speakers.

But in Spanish??? There aren't enough words to describe the rage I feel. Like you, I completely understand that some people have had fewer opportunities than others, or maybe they never had access to the education they deserved. That's one thing. But when it's obvious the problem isn't a lack of knowledge but just pure laziness? It makes me want to start chewing on bricks.

And it's not even about how grammatical mistakes make a piece of writing look ugly. My biggest issue is this: how can you be so comfortable with the fact that nobody can understand what you're trying to say?? Grammar rules exist for a reason. People spent centuries refining this language so we could communicate as clearly as possible, AND YOU JUST THROW ALL OF THAT OUT THE WINDOW. I'm not asking you to be the next Cortázar; I'm just asking for a little coherence.

Some people I know literally take pride in ignorance people like that just exists I guess I try to avoid them mostly and I do know some people who literally take pride in their bad grammar like huh??? And recently I have literally seen videos on Instagram of literal highschool students struggling to read even the simplest texts like bruh?

I might have misunderstood this a little 😅 just wanted to share my own opinion on some people I guess.

NO EXACTLY!!!

I hate how it’s become some strange “bragging right” to be plain stupid and illiterate now🫩

For example"I don't even know where .... Is on the map LMAOOO"

It's not something to brag about just plain stupidity

God you get it. Literacy rates are dropping way too fast dude 🫩

It honestly is a bigger deal than we take it for because if we allow a growing population to become functionally illiterate, we essentially put our own lives, health, and freedom at risk, but it’s also just really annoying to see sometimes :/

ABSOLUTELY. It’s seriously scary how common it is now to just be plain illiterate now.. I hope at least more people notice how bad it’s getting and we start doing something about it 😭

Like I was never bad at reading or writing, but this whole literacy issues has got me LOCKED IN on studying and picking up reading books again…..
