one of my recent posts was about how excited i was to finally be able to move and how i needed that day to come sooner. they sent us the lease agreement, my roommate was searching for jobs, we just had to all sign and send over the money.
so color me surprised when i'm getting spam calls from the leasing agent today and when im finally able to pick up she tells me that yeah, what they said about me being able to have a snake without any pet fee? not only was the lease charging me a pet fee at first, but when she'd asked they apparently changed policy and no longer allowed pets that weren't cats or dogs. despite my application very clearly stating i had a snake, me filling out information for my pet snake, the leasing agent KNOWING ME AS "THE SNAKE LADY" THEY HAD CONVENIENTLY DECIDED TO SWITCH THIS UP ON ME.
im so fucking exhausted.
i just want to be done. i worked so hard to get this set up, had to constantly bother the leasing agent because she would never send things when she said she would, had to get EVERYTHING in order and now i have to start over. less than 3 weeks before classes start no less. just when i finally thought i was done and could settle in im back in the fucking building again
im so tired.
i kind of broke down after that call, my irl was fortunately with me and we got coffee and hung out for a bit to chill out. ive gotten past that phase but now i just feel empty and resigned to it all.

im so sorry :( ik it seems hard but you'll be able to find a solution. it will get better <3 wishing u the best from now on. also is there really no legal thing you can do? or some kinda bad review you can leave?
legally the most we could do is try to force them to let us live there since they approved us + sent us the lease and such knowing i was bringing a snake, but that would just end up with us in a very hostile landlord/tenant dynamic which would probably just suck really bad to live with. reviews though? yeah i intend to rip them to shreds on any site i can
ty for the kind words tho :] my (future) roommate, their mom, and i are gonna lock in on searching for places tomorrow, just resting off the stress for the rest of today

That's actually messed up of them to do so. I hope you and your pet snake find a suitable place quickly.
yeah, technically we could file against them legally but all we could do is force them to take us on as a tenant anyway which would end up with a pretty hostile landlord/tenant dynamic. i dont want to give them my money anyway
ty for the well wishes though :] there's other options out there, we're going to start looking tomorrow after we've recovered from the initial stress of it all
