Constellation of The Heart

PSA I also posted this on writerscafe.org! Friend me there (@briar)!

———

Star-yearners oft look through studded telescopes

From the inside looking out, they stare at the voided beauty

Put their eye right up the glass, another glimmer, another sign

Yet I do not yearn for the stars, as marvelous as they are

I turn that telescope around, point it straight to my chest

For it's time to peer in and meet the constellations of our hearts

We live by these luminous bodies, they dictate every fervent feeling

They'll sear and burn, charring our intricate walls

Enough so that each emotion will be laid bare for all to see

Bosoms exposed and vulnerable, we can't escape from it

What shall be done? Oh dear, we'll have to face it!

It'll hurt. It'll sting, but what's a bit of pain without the learning?

Take a little time, let them align and you'll see,

It’ll be beautiful, it'll be wonderful—it will be paradise!

That is the constellation of the heart.

very pretty poem! The message really hits close with what I've been thinking on recently.

Also I've never heard of writerscafe.org and I've been wondering about places to share writing for a while! Thank you for mentioning that website!
