I feel old writing about this now. I remember the plan used to be to get scholarships to go to college, but all throughout my schooling my inability to formulate an actual decent essay kind of makes me feel apprehensive about applying for them, procrastinating, and then eventually forgetting about them. I know i need to apply for them, because staying here in illinois just definitely isn't an option id be willing to partake in, but it's scary, you know? Out of all of the "college prep" programs ive been in, none of them have ever shown me directly how to sign up for a scholarship, how they want their essays, etc. I'm not a very interesting person, throughout all of my years in high school i didnt necessarily do much to write about, it was all a bunch of social drama and now i feel i need to extrapolate or just lie about myself on these essays
the only thing i have going for me is being a minority, but nobody has died. i'm straight, so there's been no serious adversity in that department. i've never had to build myself up out of the mud, or overcome any social challenges other than gaining and losing friends, but hasnt everyone? nothing necessarily sets me apart from anyone else, so i feel like i've fucked myself in that regaurd
i'm getting older and i need to man up, i guess

Do you have any serious passions or interests that can relate to the scholarships you're looking for? When I was writing and applying for scholarships and applications for college i wrote about my love for art (in every way). And it helped me get chosen! Sometimes you don't need to be extremely interesting, but you can have specific hobbies/passions that make people more inclined to choose you! If you're open to it, there may be writing departments that can help you as well :D
im not sure if i do have any serious things i have love for
technically music but im not much of a guitarist and i think explaining that i steal music and call it my own online wont get me anywhere
maybe i could say art as well because i have been sketching but i havent done it in years and essentially just got an ipad again to be able to draw in the first place (but things are rough skillwise.
i like playing games, and have made a couple (via roblox) but im supposed to be going to college for something computer related
im kind of nervous and feel like a larp

hey...fluffing stuff up really wouldn't hurt. interests semi-related to the things you're applying for really could help. Plus, even if you exaggerate it, who's to say you won't get into it more often in the future? don't beat yourself up <3
