I moved out 2 years ago for college. I don't think people talk enough how much it fucks with your perception of belonging.Β
I stopped feeling at home in my hometown in the summer when I realized how much I'm missing during the year. Stuff like how the streets or parks have changed. How lost I actually feel when I'm out with my bf and he knows this city better than me nowadays. It's like I'm a tourist at home. Every time I'm here, I can't wait for the moment I go back because I grew this place.Β
When I'm at uni, I can't wait for the time I go back home. A city full of people like me, who came from all regions possible and everyone mixes their accents. It's a city that feels like a safe space because I've chosen it, but there's also an itch that feels foreign.Β

I feel the same too unfortunately for some reason.
I don't know what to say but I wish things would go well for you in college as well as for your future career and all around.

100% felt - I come from a big city, but I moved to a remote town for my first two years of college. Going between the two was always a shift, but I think I always ended up missing the town more than my city.
I ended up transferring to a university closer to home to finish my studies, but I'll forever consider that town a second home to me. I think it's because while I grew up in the city, that town is where I became my own person, if that makes sense.
Anyways, I hope this semester/term treats you well :)
Good luck as well!! Yeah, I feel like myself there too. My hometown makes me feel like kid-me.

gosh i've never felt something more true :,) its absolutely foreign how weird it feels to constantly be moving back and forth between college and home life. it feels like both spaces are moving at a rapid pace without you and you kinda gotta catch up with both..i wish you well with your studies!!Β
