My Thoughts on "Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley

This book stars off rather slow, and gets somewhat confusing trying to discern from all the dialogue of the characters who get introduced, but as aforementioned, I listened to it as an audiobook so maybe there's more discrepancy in print. This book takes place in a distant future in London. I call this ironic, because the last book I just talked about, War of the Worlds, also took place in central London. Though, at one point several main characters travel to New Mexico, where several more crucial characters are introduced.

From the jump the book hits you hard with questions about morality, and it stays this way throughout the whole book, amping up near the end where two characters question each other about religion, society, the self, and the happiness that encompasses them all. Honestly made me question myself, too. One thing I didn't even notice until I began to reflect on the book is how the book slowly shifts central characters. It starts with following a man named Bernard, then slowly shifts to predominantly following a man named John. 

I'd say the main idea is definitely about morality, and how one people may normalize things that another pay find taboo, offensive, or complete illegal. Brave New World was personally a lot more engaging than War of the Worlds, most likely because of the way it spoke of sociology, power and social control, all encompassed in strange sci-fi themes.
