Made a post like this back on SpaceHey but when people say this, it really just reads to me as "I don't use anything other than social media or youtube and don't bother trying to actually find anything fun myself", like go on neocities/nekoweb, use cloudhiker or sites like that that are MADE for you to find something, hell, just Google things (or use duckduckgo, idk) that you're interested in, you're bound to find something fun out there.

Yep! People doomscrolling all day long and get bored.
I try to go on social media for specific things (recipes, DIY, etc.), and I find it more entertaining that way.

HAAAARD AGREE.
What's more upsetting is, the people saying this are the people that didn't use to be on mainstream internet. But now that they got used to "their" things being spoonfed to them, they refuse to seek out smaller spaces... which they then cite as being the first reason they enjoyed the internet? Same with "no one makes music like-" except they do! It's just not popular and you're not lookin' for it.
for real, people complain about the internet being ""centralized"" but then refuse to get off the sites they complain about or find anything themselves
plus it feels like people really love to do historical revisionism with the internet in particular
