a lot of it is just thinking about (and maybe even trying) alternatives different from your norm! imagine someone using different pronouns for you--does it seem odd? do you prefer it? does it not really matter to you? this extends to other things we gender: do you think you'd prefer being a daughter, son, or just child? what about brother/sister/sibling? when you choose your clothes, do you want people who are meeting you to think you're masculine or feminine?
if you feel comfortable with it, you can even ask family or friends to use different gender words/pronouns for you, or try going by different pronouns online to start with. also, just to remember, gender is a vast and flexible thing. you can have ALL the genders, you can have no gender, your gender can change and be fluid! also, if you ever try something and feel like it doesn't work, you can always go back. very very few people have their gender all figured out the first time :p

like, how they come up with the "revelation" that they would've fitted better to be of the opposite gender?
