I feel like it's social media's fault, while yes it helps some people who struggle with social stuff, overtime it ruins their perspectives on social stuff in real life. They will never grow larger or become something important staying online 24/7 and that destroys them. I'm on social media a lot (15+ hours just a few weeks ago but recently it has gone down to 5 hours), but I was so sad before but now after hanging out with people IRL and actually getting off my phone I feel so refreshed.

OKAY, a serious reply from me.
I definitely agree that social media is at fault for making someone depressed, because then it puts someone on one side of something important, like politics. If you don't do your own research on these kind of topics to learn about the other side of whats happening, then you might just depress yourself in debates, or getting cyber-bullied.
Speaking of, people like to comment on weights, faces, heights, (ect.), just to be mean for no reason, which will depress someone else. So social media is a huge impact on depressing people, and going beyond depression. So the phone bans in school is actually great, because people arent distracted on social media, AND they aren't just focused off their school work. (Mostly, cause chromebooks still exist)

this is 100% true!!
i dont like the "it's the phones fault!" thing, but the truth is phones and social media CONTRIBUTES to depression like a moth to a flame.
its definitely doesnt work for a long time for most people struggling with underlying problems, but it is very refreshing to get off after long doomscrolling
Yes! exactly. I am chronically depressed because of the abuse I went through but without phones it really helps a little bit.
