Living alone is overrated.

I know it sounds like a dream. I've been there when I was 13. And look, when you're a teenager with no responsibilities apart from school, it is really dreamy.

However, it's not the case in adult life 🥲 I've lived by myself for almost 2 years now, in another city hundreds of kms away from my family. Conceptually, I love it. I love uni, the freedom and the possibilities. But those fun little things everyone thinks of, like showering with music on and making a sandwich at 3am are not worth the long-term sense of boredom or even loneliness.

Going home in the evening after a long day and seeing an empty house is... Anticlimactic. Having to clean everything by yourself and check the door lock/stove before sleeping is tiring. Occasionally paranoia gets to me at night, instead of letting me sleep, despite knowing I have peaceful neighbors.

No matter how much I socialize in uni or go out with my friends, living alone makes it feel underwhelming.

To be fair, I wouldn't move in with my parents again. That's another genre or tiring. I tried to move out in the summer with one of my mom's colleague's daughter. The girl was on the asocial, shy side so I thought it'd be good for me to live with someone that requires a low social battery as an introvert myself. Girly ended up moving with her bf instead bruh 🥲

... And oh yeah, rent also costs a shit ton of money.

Yeah, most humans don't like living alone. You get used to it, i mean if it bothers you to come home to an empty space get a low cost pet. I would recommend maybe joining a small group or volunteering to meet new people and kind of get out of your own head sort of switch things up. If your just tired of the daily grind reduce some of the friction, batch cook dinner or lunch w/e it saves money and the hassle of cooking when your not in the mood, i do mine Saturdays. Cleaning is easy if you put on music or a good podcast / youtube video. If all you want is company when your home or something but don't want a pet or significant other then you could just keep doing this, eventually someone will come forward and be that casual connection. *shrug* but I'm not telling you anything you don't already know.

Yeahhh unfortunately the apartment is too small to get a roommate and I'm not allowed pets, but I'm with my friends and colleagues as much as I can. I have my boy cat at home wish I could've brought him 🥲
