Many of the "Conspiracy Theories" that get talked about everywhere exist either as a form of mass delusion / hysteria - or they were handcrafted to poison the well in groups which oppose any regime where the theories arise in. In the former category, there isn't much to say - it's just mass panic over something the public isn't aware of. A good recent example of this was the "fake snow" from a few years ago that people were trying to set on fire. The later category, it's something called "COINTEL PRO" or the "Counter Intelligence Program". It's why the "Flat Earth" and "Fake Moon Landing" get brought up in conversations that they don't belong in. No one takes anyone who brings these two "theories" up, and at some fundamental level everyone knows that the Earth is round and we definitely did go to the Moon - they just exist as a means of making everyone in the room seem dumber for entertaining the conversation, doubly so if it's on camera. The concept of these "fake or seeded conspiracies" applies to more than just these two. A good rule of thumb when it comes to actual conspiracies is that the real ones - that is to say, the ones you don't hear about until 60 years after the fact - are all, for the most part, very mundane and careful - and documentation is generally scarce because the perpetrators have friends in offices who get paid to handle documents containing sensitive information. The criminals who flaunt their crimes and make everything as flashy as possible are the first ones that get caught, same thing applies here.
