The stars in your eyes
When the sun sets, and the stars come out to play,
It’s then that I remember.
I remember how I saw you as night—
how not only were there stars by your eyes,
but in them.
How could they look this way?
In the darkness of life,
your eyes shined
with pain and hope,
but mostly love and adornment.
No matter the divide,
When the sun left you all alone
in the cold, vast reality of life,
You flourished—you shined
like the stars in your eyes.
You demanded what was yours and more.
In a world where the sun is most appreciated,
It’s the stars I’ll pick every time.
context my mom died and she had stars tatted next to her eyes
